Madison Police still investigating assault The Madison Police have developed a "person of interest" while investigating an incident from early Wednesday morning in which a severely-injured man was found by a patrol officer in the parking lot of a local auto parts store. Full Story

The appeals process for property valuations will soon begin in Lake County. Starting March 1, new property valuations will be mailed to county residents, and owners of agricultural property will notice some changes. Lake County Equalization Director Shirley Ebsen discussed the appeals process with Lake County Commissioners on Tuesday. She said residents will have until March 11 to submit written appeals to local township and municipal boards. Those appeals are heard during the week of March 15-19. Full Story

The Madison City Commissioners offered different opinions on Monday on how to handle one transfer of unspent money into the 2010 municipal budget. Heath VonEye, municipal public works director, requested that his department transfer $11,000 in unspent 2009 funding to purchase snow-handling equipment to the snowblower reserve fund. The snowblower reserve fund operates as one of the accounts that the city uses to accumulate money over several years to buy additional equipment or vehicles. Full Story
