Four bridal dolls are on display at the Smith-Zimmermann Museum as part of Karen Becker's collection which she has temporarily loaned to the Madison museum. The four dolls represent the four seasons -- spring, summer, fall and winter. The museum is also displaying dolls used for advertising and representing TV characters, entertainers and athletes. Heartland Consumers Power District has received a $300,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture that will benefit construction of the Rural Learning Center in Howard. City agrees to contract with Mitchell Aquatic Club The Madison City Commission gave its approval on Monday to a contract between the Community Center and the Mitchell Aquatic Club to use the center's swimming pool for swim practice and swim meets. Full Story
Absentee voting has started for the 2010 spring election held by the Madison Central School District that will elect three members of the school board and answer a referral question regarding a four-year, $250,000 opt-out. Cindy Callies, school district business manager, reported that the printer provided the election ballots late on Thursday. Registered voters living in the Madison School District can fill out and cast their absentee ballots by going to the business office at Madison High School. Full Story
